Grand Mainland Tour - including Thessaloniki

DAY 01 : Epidauros and Mycenea
Leave Athens by the Coastal Road to Corinth Canal and make a short stop. Then drive on and visit the Theatre of Epidauros famous for its remarkable acoustics. Then proceed to the town of Nauplion for a short stop after which continue on drive to Mycenae and visit the Archaeological Site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. Depart for Oympia, "cradle of the Olympic Games" through Central Peloponnese and the towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis. Overnight in Olympia.
   
DAY 02 : Ruins of Olympia
In the morning visit the Archaeological Site with the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium and the Archaeological Museum. Then drive on through the plains of Eliad and Achaia until the new magnificent bridge which crosses the Corinthian Bay from Rion to Antirion. Pass by the picturesque towns of Nafpactos (Lepanto) and Itea until arrival to Delphi. Overnight in Delphi.
   
DAY 03 : Delphi site and museum
In the morning, after breakfast, visit the Archaeological Site and the Museum of Delphi. Then depart for Kalambaka, a small town situated at the foot of the astonishing complex of Meteora, gigantic rocks. Overnight Kalambaka.
   
DAY 04 : Meteora and Dion
Today visit of Meteora. Among striking scenery, perched on the top of huge rocks which seem to be suspended in mid-air, stand ageless Monasteries, where you can see exquisite speciments of Byzantine art. Depart from Kalambaka for a drive through Trikala and Larissa. On arrival make a visit to the Archaeological Site of Dion. Admire also from here the gigantic figure of Mt Olympus, the highest mountain in Greeece and home to the 12 Gods of Greek Mythology. After the visit depart for the town of Naoussa.. Overnight in Naoussa.
 
DAY 05 : Kastoria and Edessa
After breakfast, depart in the morning for town of Kastoria, famous for the beautiful, prehistoric lake. A settlement 7000 years old was discovered here and you can admire the rare findings in the tiny local museum together with the recreation of the old settlement. After visit of Kastoria, depart on to visit the picturesque town of Edessa where you can enjoy the famous waterfall. Overnight in Naoussa.
   
DAY 06 : Pella and Thessaloniki
Leave in the morning for Pella, the Ancient Capital of the Kingdom of Macedonia and visit the site. After the visit, depart for Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece. Visit the city and its Archaeological Museum. Return to Naoussa for overnight stay.
   
DAY 07 : Vergina and return to Athens
Depart from Naoussa in the morning and make a very interesting visit to the local ‘Boutari’ winery. After the visit we shall drive to Vergina. Visit the very important Museum with many astonishing and priceless findings belonging to the Macedonian Civilization. Here you can also view the remains of King Phillip’s Palace (father of Alexander The Great). After the visit we start driving south passing through the Valley of Tempi, town of Lamia and Kamena Vourla with a stop in Thermopylae to visit Leonida’s Monument. Arrive in Athens late in the afternoon.

-Accommodation in Athens is not included before of at the end of this tour, optional extra.
-For visit of the Monastery ladies need to wear a skirt, gentlemen long trousers.
